Design Drawings
Below is a collection of fashion design drawings based on my current project, 'The Indian Culture'. I combined my observations of the Indian culture with some fashion influences from the West.
The design above is the garment I hope to create as my
"Final Piece" for my current A-Level project.
The top; made from a nude mesh, delicately adorned with
royal blue embroidery and embellished with complimentary beading.
The skirt; made from white neoprene with a high-low hem,
trimmed with hand-painted silk and intricate embroidery.
In the design above, I again liked the idea of embroidering onto nude coloured mesh to achieve the illusion of a tattoo, inspired by the traditional Indian henna tattoos.
I designed a few hooded garments in my collection to interpret the Hindu tradition of women covering their heads with veils or scarves and also to take a different approach to combining the Western culture with the East.
I designed the garment above when I planned to create a more traditional Indian lehenga. Through my experimentation and research, I discovered that I wanted to create something less traditional, and produce a garment with a Western influence.
